Tron rollercoaster attraction coming to Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World in a new space

At the 2017 D23 Expo, Disney announced that the most popular attraction at Shanghai Disneyland is coming to Walt Disney World Resort. A thrilling, Tron-themed attraction will be added in a new area near Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom.  Interestingly, as you can see from the design concept above, this new attraction will not replace the Tomorrowland Speedway, as initial rumors suggested.  Instead, this attraction will be placed beyond the Speedway, where the current walkway between Tomorrowland and The Fantasyland Circus is.  One interesting question remains - how will this impact the WDW Railroad?

Daft Punk to write score for "Tron" sequel

From CNBC:

Daft Punk, the French electronica duo known for their robot personas, will compose the score for "TR2N," Walt Disney Pictures' update of its 1982 science fiction classic "Tron."
The film, currently in production, is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.
The "TR2N" score marks Daft Punk's first foray into the studio since 2005's "Human After All." After an extended hiatus, the duo reemerged in 2007 for an extensive world tour, spawning the Grammy-wining live set "Alive 2007." The group's 2001 track "Harder Better Faster Stronger" was adapted by Kanye West for his single "Stronger," and the pair appeared at the 2008 Grammy Awards with the rapper.

Something I noted was the use again of "TR2N" as the name of the new film. There was some doubt that the new movie would be called "TR2N" or "Tron 2."

In the news: Dispute over Mission: Space settled and an unknown is picked for Tron 2.0 lead character

Two stories on CNBC.com caught my eye today.

The first is a story about a settlement between Disney and Environmental Tectonics Corporation over the design and implementation of Mission: Space at Epcot. This is a pretty complicated story, so I won't try to muck it up with a summary other than to say the settlement appears to be amicable.

The other story is about a Disney movie I can't wait to see: Tron, Tron 2.0, or TR2N or whatever it will finally be called. It seems Murtaugh (played by Garrett Hedlund) from the Eragon movie will become the lead character. Also noteworthy in this article is that shooting will start this spring. I just hope Disney will someday release that awesome teaser trailer they showed at the San Diego Comic-con last year.
