Tip Tuesday: The benefit of early ADR's

Welcome to another Tip Tuesday!

As we start to get into Spring (and the more crowded park season), I thought I'd share a little tip to help you enjoy a little non-crowded time in the parks (sort of).

I'll start with a question: Can you get into a park before it opens (aside from extra magic hours)?

The answer is YES.

The trick is to make an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) for breakfast at a table-service restaurant for a time before a park opens. For instance, you could make a reservation for breakfast at Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom for 8:15 a.m. even though the entire park doesn't open until 9 a.m. You can arrive at the park before 8 and get in.

At each park entrance, Disney cast members will verify your ADR and let you in the park. You then have access to a limited area of the park (no attractions are open), but you do have the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of that park (Animal Kingdom in the example above). It's as if you have a piece of the park all to yourself. There are very few people around. This is a great time to get some good pictures, especially at the Magic Kingdom.

If you time it right, you can finish your breakfast and be in the park just as the ropes go down, putting you first in line heading to the most popular attraction.

Which restaurants should you consider when taking advantage of this tip?
  • Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table - Magic Kingdom (BEST choice!)
  • Hollywood & Vine - Hollywood Studios
  • Tusker House - Animal Kingdom
I've done this for the past two trips and it's a fantastic time to get in early into each park. This is another DisneyDaddy must do!! Keep an eye on your 90 day window - some of these ADR's can book up quickly (depending on the time of year).

I couldn't agree more with this tip. After having a nice meal and spending some time with characters, you are often ready to hit the park at rope drop.
